I’m not big on fall/halloween decorations. I typically just put out a doormat and maybe a few pumpkins around my house (I got BIG for christmas). But this year, things are different. I’m spending more time in my house, not going out with friends (unless its a social distance happy hour) and with the weather getting colder and it getting darker soon… I think we all, including myself, could use a little “seasonal cheer”. And my motto for 2020 “do WHAT YOU FEEL”.
First I made fall garland to put over my fireplace. I don’t have a real mantle, so I use command hooks to secure the garland to give the illusion there is on. I had an old piece of eucalyptus garland from target and added another piece from amazon to give it a fuller look. Step 1: wrap the two together and add lights. Step 2: puncture the back of the pumpkins (made of styrofoam, so easy to push in) with wire (i use this floral kit from amazon). You’re going to use this wire to secure the pumpkins on the garland. Step 3: place the garland on the mantel. I find it easier to add the largest pumpkins first and place the smaller ones next to the large pumpkins, or however you want your design to be. The fluff out the eucalyptus leaves out around the pumpkins and done!
I’ve seen these bats all over instagram and found a set of 75 for under $10. I recommend using scotch tape over the adhesive provided, as it will come off easier and hopefully not ruin your paint job!
