Im off to the UK for 10 days and am sharing the essentials you need for not only a long flight, but a trip overseas. First up the long flight. If you’re like most of us and flying economy, there are 2 things that will help elevate your experience and get some sleep on that long flight ahead. I’ve read so many reviews on this travel neck pillow it has a crazy number of positive reviews and has been written up in many blogs. While we’re talking about sleep melatonin or advil PM is what helps me get some zzz
I’m trying this foot rest out for the first time – but again have read so many positive reviews on it. You hang it over your tray table and give your legs some elevation and room to relax. Its been a recent thing, but whenever I fly more than 3 hours, my feet swell like crazy! These are the best compression socks. I put them on the moment i get on the plane and take then off when I land and my feet don’t swell. With or without compression socks, I always pack a park of fuzzy socks for the flight. You’re going to want to take your shoes off and these keep you free to move about the cabin 🙂
I can’t sleep ANYWHERE (including my own home) with out a silk sleep mask. Silk is the best for your skin and keeps wrinkles at bay. A sleep mask is great for a long flight, but also for hotels. Speaking of skin, mine gets SUPER dry on flights (esp long ones) and I read this sleepover mask keeps your face hydrated. I plan on putting it on right before takeoff. Blanket scarves are your best friend when traveling. Just like the name, they have duel purpose, as a blanket on a flight to keep the draft out and as a fashionable scarf during the day while you sightsee.
This is my go-to travel tote, its durable, fits a lot of “stuff” and is easy to clean. A less expensive “dupe” can be found here. For the plane, I bring alone a smaller case to hold ear buds, sleep mask, gum and other small essentials. My case is linked in this post. But also use this clear toiletry bag for my mini toiletries, toothpaste etc. I’m bringing along a few books on this trip. including this and this. If you travel outside of the country you have to bring an adapter, this one is great (and for europe) as it has slots for your chord and iphone cords.
I have high arches and horrid planter fasciitis (like an old woman). Walking around cobblestone all day does a number on my feet. My friend who is a marathon running introduced me to this ball. After a long day on your feet, you roll your sore puppies over this guy and it works all sorts of wonders/
I am the worst packer, I’ve been to europe every year for the past 10 years, you would think I have the whole minimal packing thing down.. well I don’t! Even before I was a d-list “influencer” in the making, I overpacked. I just recently discovered these compression packing cubes. They literally compression your clothes to fit MORE clothes in your luggage.. brilliant! They also keep everything organized. i love packing cubes for that reason alone, esp if you’re going to be hopping from one hotel to the next.
